# Mestara (مسطرة)

> Mestara is an independent Arabic type foundry. We design and license contemporary Arabic typefaces, and draw custom fonts, bilingual families, and logotypes for brands. Founded 2023 by Yazeed Omar, a Saudi type designer and calligrapher. Based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The name "Mestara" (مسطرة) is the Arabic word for a ruler — the measuring tool — chosen to signal the precision the foundry applies to letterform design.
